8.00 am Departure for a visit of the LE PUPILLE Estate in ISTIA D’OMBRONE – Grosseto: Visit of the cellar and wine tasting

There are a number of quality-minded producers hidden away in the coastal regions of Tuscany, of which one of the best is Le Pupille. The estate is owned by Elisabetta Geppetti. Before her the estate used just to produce wine for her family's needs. In 1983, fresh from university, she started to develop the estate into a commercial venture. Morellino, the local name for Sangiovese grape variety, comes from vineyards surrounding the medieval village of PeretaThe wines have been made under a number of well known consultants, including Ricardo Cottarella. But most recently it is Christian le Sommer who advises - when he isn't too busy at Châteaux Lafite and Latour, where he is also employed.

AND / OR Visit of the GUADO AL TASSO, Antinori’s Estate
Piero Antinori and his 3 daughters who also take care of the most acclaimed Solaia - run the Guado al Tasso estate. It is part of the small, prestigious Bolgheri DOC zone. First famous for its rosé wines bact to the seventies, the area is now best-known and admired for its outstanding red wines, the so-called SuperTuscans. The 900 hectares estate stretches up from the shore of the Tyrrhenian Sea to the hills, and aside from extensive vineyards, also grows wheat, corn, sunflowers, tomatoes and olive trees.

3.00 pm visit of the Tenuta Dell’ORNELLAIA Estate
Tenuta dell’Ornellaia was founded by Marchese Lodovico Antinori in 1981. Today the property is run by Marchesi de’ Frescobaldi. The Tenuta dell’Ornellaia Estate is on the Via Bolgherese, in a triangular area between the sea, the medieval village of Bolgheri, and the town of Castagneto Carducci. The property consists of 97 hectares, about 240 acres, of vineyards planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. Since the Tenuta dell’Ornellaia was founded, this beautiful, once-wild area has become synonymous with winemaking of the highest order, producing a number of great wines: Ornellaia, Le Serre Nuove dell’Ornellaia, Masseto, and Le Volte.

AND / OR Visit of the TENUTA SAN GUIDO, Sassicaia Estate
Tenuta san Guido produces one of the most sought-after of the Super Toscans : Sassicaia. The earth at Tenuta San Guido gave Sassicaia its name, which in the Tuscan dialect means "stony ground". The soil is very alike the one in the Graves area in the Bordeaux region. Less than one fortieth of its surface (2500 ha) is devoted to winemaking, while two-thirds of the total is woodland. The Incisa della Rocchetta family, that still run the estate, was pioneer and even inspired the Super toscans movement, indeed after 25 years of experimentation and relentless energy, Sassicaia entered the world stage in 1968 to critical acclaim with its first international release Sebastiano Rosa continues the 36 year old tradition at the Tenuta San Guido estate, which is considered by many to be the birthplace of Tuscan Cabernet.
