Steven Spurrier

Steven Spurrier joined the English wine trade in 1964 and moved to Paris in 1970, where he took over Les Caves de la Madeleine, a small wine shop in the centre of the city, and in 1973 opened L'Academie du Vin, France's first independent wine school.

He left Paris in 1988 to become a wine consultant and wine critic. His clients include Singapore Airlines and Christie's Education. He is an internationally reputed wine judge and is Consultant Editor for Decanter Magazine and President of the Circle of Wine Writers.
