FICOFI – one man’s passion

Philippe CapdouzePhilippe Capdouze, a young Bordeaux-bred entrepreneur, is a graduate both in finance from Paris Dauphine University and in oenology from the Bordeaux Wine Institute.
In 1990, he decided to fulfill his dream of working with fine wines and created FICOFI with a group of friends. At the same time, he started a promising career in the Renault Group where he managed risk and exchange rates for 8 years.
In 1997 he started to work full time for FICOFI.

Like all great sportsmen – and Philippe was once French University tennis champion – he knew how to attract the most competent people to work with him and make FICOFI what it is today, a world expert in Grands Crus wines and their environment:

the owners of the greatest estates have sufficient confidence in FICOFI to agree partnerships,
internationally recognised wine authorities work with FICOFI and strengthen our expertise,
our excellent staff, each an expert in an individual field, work together as a team with one objective in mind – to satisfy the client.

Creation of the Amateurs de Grands Crus Club® with many participating châteaux owners : Alexandre de Lur Saluces (Château d’Yquem), May Eliane de Lencquesaing (Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande), Christophe Salin (Château Lafite Rothschild).

1995

First edition of the Palais des Grands Crus® in Paris

1996 

Creation of the trading company MCN FICOFI in Bordeaux, with wine allocations from the greatest châteaux.

1997

Philippe Capdouze leaves Renault to work full time for FICOFI

1999

First edition of the Palais des Grands Crus® in Hong Kong.

2000

First Petrus, Guigal, Roederer, Jadot dinner in the presence of the owners of these mythical estates.

2001

FICOFI advises Société Générale in the creation and management of SGAM 1er Cru, the first shared collection of fine wines, receiving a trophy for Financial Innovation from Standard & Poors – la Tribune

2002

FICOFI’s development in Asia accelerates: Palais des Grands Crus® in Singapore and Hong Kong; tasting dinners in Tokyo, and Djakarta...

2005

Conception and launch of Ultimate Grands Crus Collection®, to select, buy, stock, deliver, manage and animate cellar collections for HNWI wine lovers.

2007

FICOFI organises more than 200 events in the year of which almost half in Asia.
The value of collections managed by FICOFI for 70 collectors reaches €50 million.
