Jean-François COCHE-DURY produces some of the very greatest white wines from Burgundy, which over the years have achieved cult status. The ingredients at the root of this success are mostly no secret: prime vineyard land, constant work in vineyard and cellars, and rigorous yield limitation. However in Jean-François COCHE-DURY’s case they are taken to a level of perfection which would appear difficult to equal.

Château Ausone, named after the famous Roman poet, shares with Cheval Blanc the distinction of being classified Premier Grand Cru Classé A in Saint-Emilion. Thanks to its exceptional vineyard, it produces every year one of Bordeaux’s greatest wines. Ausone is a wine of admirable finesse and body, elegantly fruity and smoothly rich, yet never massive. A marvel of balance.
